How To Be Women God Chooses
The requirements may surprise you, as the women God chooses are rarely perfect. However, they do have a few things in common…
Today’s episode focuses on the women God chooses. Ultimately, The driving force behind their impact is not their perfection, but the way they love. Listen in!
This past weekend I attended the celebration of life service for my Aunt Chabba. In addition to listing her wonderful qualities, many hilarious stories were told highlighting her “imperfections” – she may have taken out a few helpless animals with her vehicle, for example. But she did two things amazing well:
She loved Jesus and she loved others. Selflessly.
Not only do I mention Aunt Chabba, but today’s episode includes the stories of 5 women in Scripture who seem to be “less than perfect” by the world’s standards, but they are women God chooses because of their love for Him. Although they are familiar stories, I give a brief account of each of the following women:
- Tamar – Genesis 38
- Rahab – Joshua 2-6
- Ruth – The Book of Ruth
- Bathsheba – 2 Samuel 11-12
- Mary – Luke 1:26-56
God chose some UN-perfect women, y’all.
And I’m pretty sure he did it on purpose. I think the God of the universe wants us to know that our humble, UN-perfect lives are worth a lot to him. That the measure of our value is not rooted in our mistakes, our past, our parentage, our failures, our intellect, or our weaknesses. Furthermore, I think He wants us to know that all he needs to write a great story of redemption is a faith that says, “I’m yours, God. Let’s do this.” Because, a life that is purposefully lived and marked by passionate love for Jesus and others – that’s just the kind of story he excels at writing.
Just ask Aunt Chabba. She’s there in eternity right now reaping the benefits of living out that kind of love here on earth.
Hopefully in a mansion strategically built on “NO-Dog Road”.😉
