How To Reel In Busyness, part 2…
Types of Poor Time Managers
To start with, Sandy introduces the third type of poor time manager, the perfectionist. She shares her personal experience as a perfectionist who spends excessive time on tasks, always seeking improvement. Interestingly, this type of busy person doesn’t have too much on their plate but struggles with managing time efficiently.
Furthermore, the overcommitted busy person is the fourth type of poor time manager. The reasons for this type vary. For example, one could be a people pleaser, feel trapped, or have a need to control. Subsequently, one could fall into the comparison trap.
The Perils of Comparison
Consequently, we discuss comparing oneself with people in different seasons of life and the importance of recognizing one’s own capacity, highlighting the drawbacks of this type of comparison. Comparison often leads to disastrous consequences, even in biblical narratives.
The Overcommitted Person Who Values Busyness
Next, Sandy uncovers the fifth type of overcommitted person: the one who values busyness as a badge of honor, discussing their misconceptions about busyness, fear of disappointing God, and belief that busyness is godly. Insights are given into the various reasons why individuals end up with too much on their plates. Self-reflection and soul searching are emphasized to identify one’s root causes of busyness.
Steps to Break Free from Busyness
Finally, we reiterate the significance of understanding the root causes of busyness using the analogy of treating a headache with different solutions for different root causes. Listeners are encouraged to engage in soul searching, prayer, fasting, and writing to determine their root causes and work towards balance in their lives.
