rule of life living fully daily habits

If you’ve ever wondered how to create a personal “rule of life” with life-giving daily habits, I’ve got you! Today on UnPerfect, we’re talking about stepping away from reactive living. As a result, we’re moving toward building gentle, gospel-centered rhythms that nurture your soul.

Episode #150: Creating a Personal Rule of Life: Intentional Daily Choices for Living Fully and Faithfully

Jen Pollock Michel is my honored guest on the pod today. She is the author of six books: A Rule for the Rest of Us, A Habit Called FaithSurprised by Paradox (winner of Christianity Today’s 2020 Award of Merit for Beautiful Orthodoxy), Keeping PlaceTeach Us to Want (winner of Christianity Today’s 2015 Book of the Year), and In Good Time (winner of the Word Guild’s Best Book of 2023).

Jen holds a B.A. in French from Wheaton College, an M.A. in Literature from Northwestern University, and an M.F.A from Seattle Pacific University. After eleven years of raising a family in Toronto, Jen now lives in Cincinnati with her husband in a near-empty nest.

Drawing from years of leading spiritual formation workshops, Jen Pollock Michel helps us:

  • Keep company with God—Establish practices that cultivate ongoing conversation with the One who sustains our lives.
  • Name our givens—Honestly assess our current seasons, roles, and limitations instead of fighting against them.
  • Attend to our desires—Examine what our hearts truly longs for as an important step toward faithful response.
  • Articulate faithful habits—Develop specific, sustainable practices for our relationships, work, and daily rhythms.

As always, I’m in this with you, each UnPerfect step of the way…
